Austin weather is very unpredictable, at times the mornings can be 30 degrees and then warm up in the afternoon to 70 degrees. Somedays may be hotter than others and you might be wearing shorts one day and then bundle up in jeans and a hoodie the next.

The green belt—

This is the green belt and people use the green belt for swimming and hiking. It contains cliff walls, and lush vegetation.

Zilker Park—

There are many festivals and events in zilker park that are open to the public. There is also a playground that young kids love to play in.

Barton springs— The largest natural swimming pool in the United states in an Urban area

Botanical gardens— inclues 30 acres of garden visuals and is free and open to the public

HEB grocery stores—

A lot of well known grocery stores like HEB and Whole Foods in Austin and other cities are aware of the environment problems that is taking place. Consumers try to limit the trash of plastics by bringing there own cloth grocery bags. By using the cloth bags, shoppers can avoid throwing away about 1,000 plastic bags a year.

SOLAR PANELED ROOF-

"A solar panel roof mount system can lower your electric bill to literally $ 5.00 by producing your solar energy!"-www.premierpower.com/solar_energy_residential/solar_panel_roof_mount.php

CUTE Club—

In Westlake High School, the student body is environmentally conscious and wants to do an active role of helping the Earth. We have a club called CUTE, which means Cleaning Up The Environment. Everyone recycles plastic bottles, cans and glass into blue bins and members of the CUTE club picks them up every Thursday. Then the members process them into three seperate groups, the plastics, cans and glass. They put them in a big crate and volunteers sends them to a place called Ecology Action.

Construction-

Even though us Austin people love our nature, there are constructions taking place to help expand our population and transportation system. Construction workers are expanding roads so that there would be less traffic. Also, many houses are being developed.

Contributing to Clean Air-

Austin is proud to say that we do our best to keep our air as clean as possible with little pollution. There's a program called the River Cities Rideshare program which is dedicated to help commuters automobile dependency by providing carpool and vanpool matches, pedestrian and biking information and public transportation opportunities. With this program, people can stop polluting and start contributing.
